1989 5.0 Shut off while doing 70 and wouldn't crank back up
I was driving home today, 5.0 was running great, then the mustang shut off. At first I thought it was the fuel pump, but then after turning the key off and turning it back on, I could here the fuel pump turn on. My guess is it is not getting fire. If it's not getting fire when I check it tomorrow, what is my next step. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for your response. That could be the problem. All I have done so far is I checked the Schrader valve with a tire pressure gauge and it wouldn't register. Fuel came out at first, but then it quit, so my thinking is the pump is not pumping properly, but not sure.

I found out the problem. I checked for spark and wasn't getting any, so I took the distributor cap off and found parts in the bottom. AH-HA, here's my problem. Well, then went to Advance to get a pick-up coil for $18, but decided just to get the whole distributor for $64. Put it in and after 10 minutes of alignment and adjustments, cranked and it runs like it did before. Thanks for advice.

You should probably look under there a little more often. Sounds like plugs/wires wouldn't be a bad idea...
