build it...if you want to be competitive you need to build the cage to your specific application, store bought cages have little things in them to make them more cost effective, and only you know the DOM or ERW (<- usin that you'd be really competitive) thickness etc that you need

There are plenty of pre bent kits that offer all the certications that you need. The onbly down side to kits is that they might not be as tight fitting to the interior of the car as a custom cage/bar. With a kit you get what you need for a low price but you still need a person to weld it in and together, and this is where you should not skimp. Don't let Joe Blow, whoi thinks he is a welder put it together, go to a real shop and pay what it costs to have a pro do it.
