Need Expert HELP gas leak 89 GT
OK I have a gas leak on my 89 GT.
I took off right front wheel and cleanned the
dirt off the two fuel lines that come from the rear
out of the front inner fender shroud, over the wheel hub
and under the frame and down to meet two drop
hoses that loop the lines back up towards the front of the
engine.
The hoses are there only to protect the looped gas lines
from dirt and not to seal any gas.
The gas is dripping down at the point where the two lines
make the turn underneath the frame and then point down
to make the big loop.
I thought it was the lines and took off the clip holding the lines
so I could move them and see.
To my surprise the leak was comming from above the lines
from the center of the frame. I do not see any lines going
into the frame. And from the top, after removing the airbox
and MAF hose I see no leak on the fender.
The fuel cannister is in front of the leak and the hoses
don't seem to go over the frame, but one goes to a hard
vinyl hose over the fender strut and into the firewall?
The cannister is dry, and no leak when I remove one
of the breather caps. The leak only comes when running.
I am at a loss. I cannot see where any gas line is
feeding into the frame rail. I don't see how I can cut
into the rail to isolate the direction the leak is comming
from.
It may be possible the two lines go into the frame under the
front fender shroudprety far back from the leak.
Does anyone have a suggestion of how to trouble
shoot the problem? Anyone have a fox body front
apart enough to follow the fuel lines on the right
frame rail?
HELP..
there is snow on the ground and I need to drive the
mustang.
Ok guess no experts.
Well I finally found the leak.
When all else fails check the obvious.
The return gas line had a pinhole facing
up which was spraying up into the frame
rail.
Now to put it all togeather.
