Default 8.8 Rear internal swaps

Can anyone tell me if all 8.8 internals are interchangeable? I mean I know that there are several types of diffs for the 8.8 and some have 28, 31 and 33 splines, and that those have to match. Also, the length of the axles have to match.

What I want to know is if a Lightning 8.8 diff will fit in a Fox 8.8 housing or perhaps a T-Bird turbo coupe 8.8 etc...

Does anyone know? And is there an article or write up on this? If so, where can I find this?

Thanks

all 8.8 are the same.how ever i think t birds are 7.5s and the 2nd gen lighting are 9 3/4 however you can use the 03 cobra diff in your solid axles with some ford racing axles

So was the first gen Lightning an 8.8? If so, then as I asked, can the 8.8 Lightning diff be transplanted into a Fox housing, assuming I order the correct length 31 spline axles?

all the 8.8 should fit, the turbo tbirds are 8.8's in the 87-8's
think i read once all the 8.8's have the same width housing ?
but those lighting axles will have a bigger bolt pattern
think some explorers and maybe rangers have some 31's in them and those have the smaller
bolt pattern , think the 8.8 only have 28 or 31's
something to think about
