Default overheating / some other issues

well, when i bought the car they had the inlet and outlet hoses to the heater core blocked so no water was circulating becuase the heatercore was leaking. i ran a new hose for now so their is water ciruculating their.. but the car is still overheating on highway... does fine dirving around for a long time but then 5-10 mins down the highway it slowly starts to get hott'r and hott'r

not sure where to start to fix this problem

next.

car idle jumps around starts at about 1500 then drops down and acts like its cammed when its not.. either a bad miss or something not sure. its an 88gt they said it was converted over to maf.. on the pass side below the intake near the firewall where the circular thing is with all the small vacume lines i think their is like 2-3 that arent goin no where just hang n around the throttlebody not sure if they need to go somewhere or no since it was converted

last.

the car was an automatic. they converted it to a t5.. they ran the neutral safety switch inside to the console so i have to press it to turn my key.. can i just delete that switch all together so i can just turn the key or no?

Heater core has nothing to do with cooling.
It may have been disconnected for leak in
the passenger conpartment.
Sounds like the thermostat has gone soulth.

I thought the 88's had the MAF. No vac lines going to
it only a 4 terminal electrical connector. If it is not connected
the car will not run right, specially at cold start idle.

Sounds like you need to see a similar car at the junk
yard to see how the plumbing connects. I have an
89 GT auto not sure if I can help.

idle stays cool, citytraffic gets warm.. highway overheats

uhm the hoses for heatercore like i said arent hooked up to the heatercootre its just a single hose now so the water can circulate

and i just need to kno how to delete the neutral safety switch so i dont have to push the switch to start the car

You have a water pump problem.

Coulda just plugged those ports for the heater. The water doesn't need to circulate through the heater ports.

Twist the wires together.

When the car is running try pushing the
neutral safety switch by itself.
If nothing happens, then you can
get to the back and short the terminal.
However the car will start in any gear.
VERY DANGERIOUS, specially if someone
else drives the car. You can get someone KILLED.

If you start the car and watch the temp gauge from
cold. The gauge should slowly go up beyond the
normal and then the thermostat opens and the temp
goes back down to normal.
If it doesn't it's the thermostat.

Pretty sure. Sounds like water isn't circulating quite fast enough at cruise RPM's. Underdrive pulleys won't hurt on the highway unless you've geared your car to have the engine pretty much idle at highway speeds.
