Yeah, 47000 is like nothing for a fox, but when i think of low miles i think of under 25k

5000-6500 dollars should be plenty for a nice coupe. A good Vert would be nearly impossible for that price though, for those years anyway. If you get a fox for around 2 or 3K you can take your extra money and nice it up if it needs it. Ive done that with plenty of vehicles and it works if you know what your doing, and make sure the core of the vehicle is good to go.

it depends on how much work you plan on doin to it, and your personal view on appearance (if it matters and what you like best). there is a HUGE aftermarket for the 87-93s. you name it, they got it. the other good thing about them is that it is easy to convert to carb (if u want) because the 79-85 were carb'd and they are pretty much the same thing. if u plan on doin tons of work to it (like myself), i would suggest the 87-93. if not, the 94-98 might be the best for you.
