Default 2001 CD Player into 2004?

I recently bought my girlfriend a 6 disc changer/radio (OEM Unit)for her 2004 Mustang GT (40th anniversary edition.)

I got it off of ebay. The seller said it was for a 2001-2004 Mustang. My girlfriend's dad tried to install it though, and he says it doesn't fit. The connectors are different or something. It looks identical, just the plugs are different, I guess. The radio has 2001 written on the top, so I guess because it's a different year it doesn't fit.

Is there any way to make it fit, like an adapter or something I can buy? I'm sure someone must have done this before...

Default RE: 2001 CD Player into 2004?

I had a similar problem with my
2001 PT cruiser. Got a radio from
ebay for a 2003. It fit physically,
but in 2002 chrysler changed the
electrical sockets and the antenna.
Had to buy a adapter kit from
dodge ($42) to make the right
connections.
Ford may have also gone to the
newer style or you may have the older style.
Once you get a similar adapter just
about any ford radio will fit.

Does ford have a security lockout????
