Converting from 4 to 6
Sorry if this is in the wrong catagory, But I am most likely buying a 96 vert mustang which I was told has a 4 cylinder in it (havent checked it out yet) I need to replace the engine and was wondering how hard it is to upgrade to a 6 cylinder. Will I need to change the wiring harness? Is the tranny still compatable? If it is too much trouble what about converting over to a turbo 4?
Any info would be much apreciated
Thank You in advance

RE: Converting to from 4 to 6
I just got off the phone with him I am going to check it out this week
Now its looking like its an 86 with a 2.3 so my question still applies. I am a lil dissapointed as I like the newer body styles a lil better but I may still buy it hes asking $600 which I thought was a great deal but now Im thinking I should offer less. Any thoughts?
And please let me know about the engine swaps too. I wanna do something easy and reliable dont wanna change out the tranny or the suspension.
also why isnt my signiture picture working??

If you don't want to change the tranny or suspension, you'll be stuck with the 4 banger. It'd be worth while to change the suspension and rearend (not much more money/laborthan a rebuild, which probably would be needed on a 20 year old car anyway). Same would go for the tranny. For $600, it's an inexpensive project car. Make sure the interior is decent and the top works without holes.

Thanks for all the help guys I think I will justpass on the car I told the guy I was interested in it whene I thought it was a 96 but an 86 is a completely differant story. I will just invest that time and money in the 66 and prolly just buy some POS to drive in the winter then sale it or park it for the summer.
BTW cleaned out the garage today and did some work to the 66, started it up and drove it around the block a few times (god I miss driving it) next I will cut the driver quarter off and replace it, get new fenders and spay it. New years res to get motivated on it again
