I'm talking about a 60's 70's radiator, a friend doesnt want to buy the new ones because he wants to preserve the classic look. So does a 2-row radiator have enough cooling power for a 289? Or would he have to enhance it by adding aux fans etc?

You can have a three row "old school" radiator. If the 289 is pretty stock and the radiator is in good shape and you have a good fan and fan shoud (very important) a two row should be fine.

Weren't 2 core rads stock on those cars? If Ford sold'em that way then they're good to go

Yes, 2 core was stock on the V8 Mustangs.

I'd like to know what this 289 is in and if it's stock. Or, if it's been transplanted...
