The door tag sticker on my '86 hatch was painted over when the previous owner repainted the car in it's original red paint job. Is there anywhere I can go to get a new one? I'm also asking this, because I need to replace the driver's door anyway. It is really rusty and has a few holes on the bottom.. could I get a new sticker from Ford? and is it a lot of $$$ to get one? I'm really picky about the details, and though I am transforming the car from it's V-6 origin, I still want to have all the factory information. and on a side note, is there anywhere I can pick up an '86 owner's manual? would Ebay be a good place to look?

If you are getting a new door it will have it's
own sticker.
You can try some lacquer thinner to see if
you can salvage your old one.
If it does not budge a small ammount of
paint stripper will do the trick.
It may also strip the writing.
I foubt you can remove and reapply the
old sticker.

 

Marti Auto Works may be able to reproduce it for you. If they can't, they mayknow womeone who can. Search the Classics section for other options.

A sticker from anew door will not be correct for your car, and can be considered fraud if you state that it is correct.

 

thanks, I'll check that out and try the paint thinner. maybe If I can get the data off the sticker, I can get it reprinted.
