Default rpms hanging

I have a 2004 3.8 5-speed. Why do the rpms just hang there when you shift? Is it just in the fuel injection? I have not had a manuel for years since they were with carbs. You know how you always had pipes on V-8s and eveytime you shift they would talk back to you because the rpms would drop off immediately as soon as you let off the gas. I hope I EXPLAINED THIS.

Its alittle early to be having problems with it, but thats usually caused by a sticking IAC, try taking it off and cleaning it with carb cleaner and see if that fixes it.

the gears nowadays are not as steep as they used to be either, and the ratios are closer together, so the drop off is less than you're used to seeing. I agree with what MD said too.
