Default Mass Air Flow Sensor

Could a extreme dirty MAF sensor cause a OBD2 code of a O2 sensor, and make the carputter out on take off? Also, could it make your gas run lean? if so, then I solve the problem by clean the hell out ofthose MAF sensor wires.... I hope! lol

It coudl cause you to run lean and could cause you to run rough. But I don't think it will give an O2 code. Why not just replace the O2 sensors? It's fairly cheap to do.

But if you don't wanna spend any money, at least remove the O2 sensors and hit them with a hot torch. That sometimes helps clean them and get them functioning properly, at least in the short term. And be careful cleaning the MAF wires. As you can imagine, if you screw them up or break them, it's all over

Actually man, i've been there anddone that. Change out both of them. Now, i was told out of all the sensors, the mass air flow is the most importnat one, and can mess up all the other sensors with that goes bad. So, I clean the MAF so tommorrow when I drive, and if the check engine light comes on again (I pray that it doesn't) then it's only the TPS sensor I have to change. Then that's it, cause the only sensor that deal with lean or rich fuel usage is either the MAF, O2, or the TPS. No other.

ohhh okay man! Yeah, I really didn't know when the air filter fell out my car. I have to say maybe couple of days before I had my hedagasket fixs, then I drove it like for 2 weeks until I notcie the air filter was gone. Soooo yeah plenty of time for those MAF sensors to get dirty as hell. so, I clean them good. so far so good.

i take it that what u was going tell me next? to clean the maf? lol

My MAF sensor cn be cleaned by removing the
plumbing between the MAF and the air box.
Then using carb cleaner with an extension, spray
(do not touch) the two minute elements good.
Button it up and you will see an immediate
improvement.
