hey acer, thanks for the quick (and detailed) response..
is that in D? or in 1st (gear)...

oh and while on the topic (ok its a different topic but eitehr way ), i tend to turn OD a lot off since i dont lke the sudden shifts - but when i do want to downshift for some passing power or something, what is a safe speed/rpm to go down to 2nd? i dont know that much about that since ive always driven automatics (hope to learn stick soon, just need a car to learn with) and i was afraid that 2nd is too low a gear to go into at higher speeds.

ok well i have a 4 banger and yes it does have a lot of torque..and you have an automatic so you just hold the brake down and hit the gas....with manuals..you drop the clutch and hit the gas to do a regular burn out and then hit the brakes really quickly....don't know if thats the right way but it works for me so...

I usually do it in "1" the car just feels like it responds better, plus your car will want to shift, not allowing you to burnout... (only high hp cars can do that)

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT manually down**** in an auto. Just press the pedal down to the floor and the car will downshift, then you can ease off... Downshifting is REALLY bad for your transmission (auto).

I usually don't turn O/D on until I'm going 40mph...

if you let the car roll back then its a roll back kinda different than a power brake...all i can say is let the car get into the gear before you step on the gas...that way you aren't hurting your tranny as much....it will do it really nice if you do it that way but its not as good of a burnout plus you aren't really doing it the right way...whate ever mustang you have you should be able to do...i have a 4 banger and it does it just fine..

B/C manuals are designed to do that....

Autos are designed to do what they please pretty much....

I've just always been told that....
