Horrible noise when trying to start-starter again?

RE: Horrible noise when trying to start-starter again?
sounds to me like the bolt holes in the bell housing are almost stripped out and the threads can't hold any torque anymore. you might try to get some heli-coil inserts installed in the holes to restore the threads unless you can get longer bolts that will pass all the way through the bellhousing where you can get a nut installed on back side to hold them tight. locktite might help, but I doubt it based on your description of how easy they manage to get loose each time. worse case fix you would have to replace the bellhousing.

Is the noise coming from the starter, or maybe the solenoid? Does it just grind and not turn over the engine? If it turns over the engine, does it do it at a fast pace? Is your battery up to snuff? If from the starter, take it out and take it to a parts place and have them check it out.
