fuses for indash

RE: fuses for indash
did the new fuse blow out right away or is it still good??
if it blew as soon as you turned on the lights, you have a dead short somewhere in the wiring to the lights or somewhere else on the circuit with something else that shares the same fuse. read the label on the fuse panel cover to see what else is on this circuit with the dash light. check the other things connected to this fuse to see if their wiring is bad or has a short circuit or unplug the wiring to them if possible. then try another new fuse and see what happens. if the fuse does not blow and the lights work, then whatever it was you unplugged is the bad circuit, so you need to troubleshoot it to see what needs to be fixed and then fix it and try again.
if the fuse did not blow, then it could be the circuit board for the dash lights has a broken circuit on it somewhere or the wiring harness plug to it has come loose and needs to be plugged back in. this requires you pull the dash apart to get to the plugs and back side of the dash cluster, so have fun! before you do all this, make sure the wiring to the back side of the fuse panel for this fuse is connected and tight first. if it's loose here, then nothing will work, so do this check first.

I had the same problem with no dash lights. Remove your dimmer switch it should be held on by 2 screws and look at the coil of wire thats wound like a spring, "its a variable resistor" mine had a tiny break where the wire had rubbed through. If thats your problem, You can solder it. or buy another one. i saw one on e-bay for like $20 bucks but i was able to fix mine.
