Default C-5 from 3.8 fit 5.0?

Will a C-5 from a 3.8 fit 5.0? It seems the bolt pattern is the same. Is the bell any deeper(front to rear) to make up for shorter block? I'm not worried about hp this is just to get a old project car mobile.

it depends on the year too!

A 94+ model is called a T5OD which is the same damn thing except the input shaft is 3/8ths inch longer, so good luck having having it match up correctly, it wont fit right at all. And if you put a 5.0 T5 on then its shorter and you will eat pilot bearings up among other problems that may occure.

Another thing that you should be aware of is that the V6 version is weaker and wont hold up as well as the GT models.

Not a T-5 a C-5 auto from a 83gl.. It appears a C-4 is around a 1-1/2in shorter than a C-5. This is a orinal 3.8,3spd. auto(no OD)hatchback I put in strorage in 96. I have a 83 ho sitting in car and the orig trans(form 3.8) is sill in back of thegarage. Before I waste a lot of time and effort I wanted to figure if this trans would work just to get car mobile for first time in a decade.

yes that c-5 will work from a 3.8 to an 5.0 as long as you still have the torq converter for it .it can also be converteted to a c-4 by changing out the valvebody from a c-4
