replacing alternator

RE: replacing alternator
How'de you get it off. You should have a automatic belt tensioner on your set/up. It should have a square hole in it that you can put a socket wrench to(w/out socket) and pull towards you and it should losen the whole belt to you can slip it around your pullie. This is the way it works on the v8 for that year. Sorry if it's different, I can't imagine why it would be.

directly across from the pulley, the tensioner is the pulley not attached directly to the engine, its on an arm. If you still can't find it look around your engine bay for the belt diagram

RE: replacing alternator
the belt tensioner for th e3.8L is on the front of the engine on the passenger side, it is down in the corner a bit, you put a 3/8" drive socket wrench in there and you can loosen the tension. it really helps to have two sets of hands so that one can loosen the tension and the other can slide the belt over.
good luck

Not sure about the six banger, but if its anything like the 4.6L, you might want to make a drawing of the belt routing, or take a digital pic before you remove the belt. It will save a lot of cussing later.
