But you run a much better chance of breaking a U joint or snapping an axle with slicks. Thats not a chance I wanna take until I have built the rear.

Oh yes. BFG's are far far far better than Nitto's. Slicks are more forgiving than a street legal drag radial...

well build the fugger up, slap on a blower and some DR's and shut the f up!

Put it this way...

Nitto's = launch at 2200 - 2300
BFG's = launch at 3000 - 3500
Slicks = launch at 6k

at least for me that is.

Yea the Nitto's can hook good on occasion, but they have to be heated just right, air pressure just right, and launched just right. So far I've cut 2 high 1.7 60's on 245 Nitto's, but most of the time Im in the mid 1.8's, if I get a bad launch I'm in the low 1.9's. At the track last week there was another supercharged 99+ GT running mid 12's on slicks. He was only cutting 1.8 60's... the look on his face was priceless when I showed him my 60' with Nitto's.... like I said the Nitto's have the potential it just takes a good setup and practice.

With slicks your pretty much guaranteed dang near the best possible 60' every time, since tirespin no longer comes into play all you have to do is just floor it. And yea like Dan said it should be pretty much a given that I could cut mid 11's with slicks - the only other thing (engine wise) I would be willing to do right now is water injection - that'd give me around 15 or so more hp.

I've argued with Dan about BFG's many a times, and after 125+ passes with Nitto's I have to agree with him. Nitto's can get you a good short time, but not quite as good as BFG's and certainly not as consistantly. Nitto's, however, last 2 - 3 times longer and I'll probably go back with them - only this time in a 275 wide tire.
