Default New Clutch <cry>

Ok just put in my new SPEC clutch. First of all my old disc was shattered and pieces of it were everywhere and my pilot bearing just about fused itself in the tranny.. ok got it all out and put it togethere, aside from spec sending me the wrong size pilot bearing all went well... Now the clutch is installed and tranny put back together, we threw it in gear and started to back it out to turn the car around. As we were doing this we started to smell the clutch burning. So we killed it and pushed it in the driveway, i realized i forgot to do the "self adjusting clutch" so i pulled up on the pedal and heard it pop as if it was adjusting itself, started it back up and no matter what with the pedal to the floor If i try to shift it just grinds as if its not engaged.. I can visually see the fulcrum moving so there is travel, since its not a hydraulic clutch that leaves out the slave. Im stuck on ideas here, the disc is installed in the correct direction, I briefly checked the fulcrum for wear which looked ok when i was doing the install. ? Any ideas im at a loss plz.
