Hey all,

Getting really close on an 01' Cobra. My only hang up is the Carfax came back with 6 owners (30,000 miles). Some of which for only a few months. Should I be wooried? Going to look at and test drive this week. From the pictures it looks well taken care of. Wanted black or red and this one is gray but the price is really good.

 

When I was looking to buy a Mustang GT I found one that was reasonably priced and ran a Carfax on it.It came up with three owners in one year,I didn't even call about it.I would be VERY carefull and do a lot of checking.Look for rusted seat springs,a sure sign of water immersion.Silt deposits under the seats,another sign of water damage.Dirt under the dash,another sign of water where it shouldn't have been,and the list goes on...
It could also just be a lemon.It could be a repo car,no real problem there but the "drive it like you stole it" mentality could have come into play.
Remember,if it's too good to be true it probably is,but it could be a fine car.

Thx guys, I'm getting comfortable with the owner. I will also look for signs of water damage. After a closer look the Carfax shows an owner change even if the current owner moves or gets married ect. I tried to low ball him on price an he held pretty firm which in a way made me feel more comfortable. Looking at the car later this week.

 

6 owners over 30k miles?

I'd pass. It's probably been purchased & people found out how big of a nightmare the car was & sold/traded it ASAP. So many owners with so few miles...

If the car were a real gem, one of those 6 owners would have hung on to the car...
