Found a little yellow valve in tranny pan while changing fluid/filter. Where does it go?
Hey guys,
I have an 02 GT convertible, automatic. I was changing the fluid and fileterfor the first time with 53k miles. I took the pan down and after I pulled the old filter off and I noticed a small yellow valve like looking thing in the pan. It had a rubber o-ring on it, and a stemat one end. I dont know if it goes in with the filter or if it fell out of somewhere else. Anyone know where it goes??? Thanks

OMG your ****ED!!! TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC ASAP!!!!
Dont worry about it. All that is is a little piece ford inserts into the trans meant to fall out when you drop the pan. This is to indicate if the transmission filter had been replaced in the event of a failure for warranty purposes. I have also read that it is for assembly purposes, to seal the dipstick hole until tube is installed (I can not confirm this). I know this, as my shop repairs and services alot of crown-vic police cars. Either way, your fine, just throw it away, it serves no mechanical purpose.
