Default DYNO?

I would like to know if any of you believe having your car dyno'ed is not good for the car. Anyone know? I had my Cobra dyno'ed and it sounded like it was seriously being red-lined, although they say they will never let it go that high. Also, my check engine light came on as soon as that happened. I was just wondering what you all think. =)

every car gets taken to redline on a dyno - thats the point of a dyno... sure bad things can happen when you run any car hard - especially if its being tuned at the time.

most reputable dyno shops aren't going to damage your engine on their dyno as they make their living doing it and know what they're doing plus they don't want or need the bad reputatation they could get from you telling all your friends that they blew up your motor on their dyno! LOL
of course, anything can happend at any time to an engine when it is pressed hard, so you have to take the good with the bad!

You wont have any trouble, like everyone else said, a good Dyno shop makes a living doing that. They know what they are doing. You also have to keep in mind you have a performance vehicle. Its made to be pushed hard. If a couple hard runs tear your stang up, you got ripped anyways.

EDIT: I had a non-pi 96 GT, and between me and the previous owner, the pedal had been to the floor for damn near the cars whole life . It had 110k and was still running strong as ever.
