Damn stereo...
Yesterday my dad and I pulled out the stock decks due to the CD player no longer reading CDs.
We went to Best Buy, bought an installation kit to fill the gap of where the old CD player was and boguht a harness for the new deck.
After some fiddling around and trying to disconnect the speaker cable from its set harness on the right side of the console (behind the old deck) and putting it back in, my dad finally figured out he had the wrong harness and the AMP wasn't being used, so we exchanged the harness for the correct one and proceeded to install it again...
Well now we have an issue, and I hope it isn't an expensive one...
We no longer recieve any sound from the speakers, unless we re attach the stock deck and turn it all the way up.
But even then it only plays as if the volume was 2/10 bars instead of all the way up.
Umm, I hope that enough info but just incase it matters,
I have a:
1996 Ford Mustang GT
4.6L V8
Mach 460 System

sounds like maybe since had wrong plug on it 1rst time might of shorted out the factory amp . i would jus try too find your speaker wires in your harness and do away with the amp . hook it all up direct .
Yes, go back to Best Buy, go in the back, and ask to speak to a installation tech. They will explain how to install your deck that you just purchased. On some models, and I am not familiar with yours. But, the factory amp will not work with an aftermarket deck. You have to ditch it. Its not a big deal, just a pain to get to sometimes. Talk to the guys who put that stuff in, they can help you in the right direction and get you what you need. Like I said, I am not familiar with your model of stang, but on mine, I had to purchase another plug, wire in the speakers that plug, and the other one that came with the install kit also connected to the aftermarket deck.
