Is this car a deal?
Car in question
http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/3525670955.html
Seems like an ok deal to me. How hard is it to fix the spedometer problem? And is that transmission thing common or is it just on its way out? How hard is it to tune the 5.0 w/fuel injection if I decide to throw some parts at it. I dont know anything about Fords...
BUT, most importantly, honestly, how expensive is it buying hot rod parts for these cars compared to a basic Camaro??? (this will be a long term drag race project)
I am more of a GM guy but I have always wanted a Mustang. Please TRY to be un-bias THANK YOU

If the body is in good shape take and rip out everything else, but if the guy admits the tranny fluid was never changed and he had it for a while I can just imagine the other maintenance required was never performed.
Your money, but drive it first. and don't allow him to warm it up. See for yourself what the tranny does.

'91 LX 5.0 for $1200? That is about the KBB list on it, but I probably wouldn't pay that for it. I used to have a '90 GT hatchback, and basically loved it (yes it had its issues too). I also had Camaros and TAs then, and at that time, the Mustang tended to be a bit more expensive for comparable parts. But everybody had 350 performance parts then too.

It's worth $1200 without a motor and transmission although at this point it might as well not have a transmission, this one is probably history. The 5.0 HO is as close to bullet proof as you can find nowadays. The aftermarket is loaded with parts for these cars too. Look in the classifieds and you'll be hard pressed to find a running foxbody for under $4000. Yeah it needs a transmission but the car is worth $1200.
