Default squeaking

it drives me insane. the thing is, it only happens about 70% of the time, and only happens when the car is moving. The squeaking seems to be coming from the back of the car. does anyone know what the hell this is? oh, i drive a 96 coup, if that makes a difference

Like a squeaking bed? Jack the rear and see if anything is touching, like the tailpipes against the frame or the weight on the axle hitting a muffler. Or the spare tire may be rubbing the floor. Does it do it regardless of road condition? Get a buddy tosit in the backwhile you drive, maybe give you a general idea of what side the squeaks are coming from.

to answer hellion_79's question, it is a v6. and to answer blckstng93's question, yes, even on best roads, it squeaks occasionally. speed doesnt seem to matter either, its done it in my neighborhood, and on the interstate

Try pushing the rear of the car up and down and see if you can duplicate the noise. If it does squeek you could have someone look while you push it or vice versa

See if your spring isolators are still in. If ones gone, that could be the source of a squeak.

Make sure your spare tire is secured fully as well. Buddy had that problem took forever to figure out that was causing it. :P
