Does my auto OD torque converter have a drain plug?

If you have a trans cooler you can pump the fluid out a little at a time and add new to it. Quit when its clean. Thats what I usually do. Your car should have a "cooler" on it from the factory. Or pull the tranny and drain it that way LOL.

i honestly don't remember if my '88 AOD had one or not when I changed the tranny out, I just drained the pan and didn't bother with the converter. it ain't that hard to look for it, just remove the dust cover from the lower front of the bellhousing and rotate the engine by hand and look for it on the converter. One place I know for sure that can tell you is www.lentechautomatics.com you might want to check with them about the drain plug. if it doens' have one, I wouldn't worry that much about what fluid gets left behind in it as it might be 1 quart or so. you can disconnect the tranny cooler lines and blow this fluid and the cooler out with compressed air if you want to get it out of the system but the stock cooler in the radiator is mighty small and it might not be worth the trouble either.

Hey guys, Talked to the local tranny guy, he advises to loosen the valve body, and let it drip, ..then disconnect the coil wire and turn her over a few times, this will drain the torque out too, thanks for the help!! bob63
