347
I have a 95 mustang 5.0. the motor is all tricked out from cams to heads, and powerdyne supercharger. what i want to do is build a 347. but i want to do it the cheapest way possible. i want to get the block from the junkyard and then bor and hon it. but what year of the 5.0 has the strongest block.
a Bos 302 is probably the strongest, yet heaviest also. [8D] new block wise....if you want something strong........id say the '89-'92 cuz they have forged pistons, so, the blocks MIGHT be a lil stronger, yet, im saying all the '87+ 5.0 blocks were the same. OR, if you got the money......get a Dart or an A4 or Sportsman block from Ford Racing......although.....for some reason....i think 2 of those 3 are the same thing. oh well. good luck though. sounds like itd be a sweet ride. im gonna b doing a built 306....so, we in the same boat. haha
Edit: AND the Boss block will also be the MOST expensive of the "junkyard blocks"

I believe the older boss blocks are not made for roller lifters. the stronger block would be the R-302 block from Ford racing performance parts. since you're going with a 347 stoker, you'll be getting new pistons so you can go with whatever material you choose to use also. Coast High Performance makes some good 347 stoker kits, www.coasthigh.com
i built a 302 to have 400 hp at the wheelsand ran a 12.32 on street tires, no nos. but when i did my dad went out and bought a rear mounted turbo kit on his ls1 and ran a 11.77. so now i must reply by kickin his a$$. i think with the mods that i have done to my motor just swap everything except for cam and fuel injectors.
