Im thinking about buying an intake spacer. it claims to give 7 to 10 rwhp. it is also 40 bucks from americanmuscle.com. Any ideas?

Make sure its made from G10 phenolic material. Thats the head resistant good stuff

Lengthening the runners gives you more torque then horsepower, but dont lengthen them too much or you can actually lose horsepower.

Expect a more Seat-O-Pants feel from this because the torque numbers will almost be double the horsepower numbers.

Its a great mod IMPO.

An intake spacer is a waste of money in the 4.6 because the throttle body is already insulated from heat by the plastic intake manifold.Changing the intake tract length before the runners has no effect on torque or horsepower levels because this area isn't under the influence of vacuum pulses created by the piston's up and down motion.What little inertial momentum is in the intake stream before the runners are actually reached is broken up by the plenum in the lower intake.
In other words,save your money.
