Default Where clutch tension comes from...

Hey everyone,

Where does the tension come from when you push in the clutch pedal? What exactly causes the resistance? I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my car; we keep tightening up the clutch cable nut and the tension goes from really high to all of a sudden barely any, as if something is slipping.

Any help?

Thanks,

Jake

Tension comes from the steel fingers on the diaphragm.
