I lost 1 set of keys. Now the dealer wants 150 bucks . He says if I had 2 keys he would not have to reprogram computer. The car comes with only 2 keys [:@]. If I knew this from go I would of bought a new key day 1. Is there now a way to turn this off???
thanks and if you own a Mustang with security go get another key. always have 3 total to avoid this cost.

 

there isnt no way to turn it off if you try the car wont start tell you reprogram it with a ford pc that takes about a hour

 

wow 150 bucks!!! i had a focus that i had to get a new key for but it was only like 80 bucks. which is still way too much for a new freakin key. does anyone know if my 95 gt has the codes in the keys or if i can just get another one made at the local lock shop?

 

A 95 does not have the codes in the key. u can get a copy made atany local shop or hardware store.

 

Yes u can get a key made to open the door at any place, but to start the motor you need to go to the dealer. If you have 2 working keys they will not charge you for the computer reset, but if you have 1 key that means reset at 150 bucks. SO if you have 2 keys go get a third before it is to late.

 

thats so wrong for the 5.0. the 5.0 cars use just a plain old standard key.

 

i have a 97 mustang and i lost my key once and it CAN be started adn driven withoutwithout a key. it will not hurt it at all. aswell at 94-98 now for 99and new im not to sure of. i would say since the stering collums and verything are the same that v6 and gts will still work without a key. but prolly not cobras or higher.
