Default converter install

alright, im planning on doing a high stall (2200-2500) converter into my aod. i was wondering what is a resonable installation price?
there is a place that i have had some work done before and they are pretty competative when it comes to prices but when i asked them about the install they said $400!!! f*ck that. they are the same people who did a converter swap for my friend david's '72 nova for $180. whats the deal?

its a daily driver. if it wasnt id go 3000. isnt stock 1600ish? so i figured 2200-2500 is a pretty good jump

also, david has 2200-2500 and that combined with a mild cam shaved 1 full second off his quarter mile

either that or they don't want to work on your Ford and gave you a highball price so you would go elsewhere to get it done. I would ask around some more and find another shop with better prices although it will take several hours to do the swap even on a lift with all the right tools, so be prepared to spend some bucks to get it done. I just had my truck at the Ford dealer where I bought it for some work and found out the hard way that the dealer labor rate there is now $71 per hour, so I don't recommend a dealer that's for sure.

yeah 400 bills is high..roundy ..I told ya we need to open up a place.....also when doing the 'vertor change put a new front seat in the trans and look REAL close at the rear main seal since the trans will be out.... 200-225 should be in the ball park

i had the trans rebuild first thing when i got it. 4th gear was replaced, shift kit, and a whole new housing so the rear seal has about 2k miles on it.

what is a good price for the converter itself? anyone have a link to a good, affordable, 2200-2500rpm converter?
