Default Bottoming out

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else has or does experiance bottoming out when you put wieght in the back of your car. Currently I have the stock V6 setup on my car. I put 140 pound of sand and a shovel in the back and the car bottoms out all the time now when I hit bumps. The added weight is for winter for traction. I feel like this isn't that much weight for the car but im not sure. I don't think its normal for it to bottom out with some extra weight in the back. Do I need to replace the shocks/springs or what? What shocks would be best to handle the extra weight for only part of the year. Do they make replacement springs that are a little stronger that don't lower the car? Would i even need replacement springs or will the stock ones be fine with new shocks installed?

Thanks for any help.

Ben

Default RE: Bottoming out

Well depending on how much your car is lowered you will be scrubbing bad like I used to with people in the back. I have a 2002 GT thats lowered 1.6" in the rear and 1.5" in the front and I put '93 GT shocks on the back. They are a little shorter that the '99+ so the shocks wont always be depressed. If you dont have it lowered then you need new shocks anyways. LOL
