Default Where did you start

I just want to know where all of you started when you began modding your stangs. Did you start with performance or did you start with appearance?

A buddy of mine is going to help me mod mine and I just wanted to know where all of you started. I plan on starting the performance before appearance.

start with basic boltons, i.e h or x pipe, catback, plenum, tb, cold air, underdrive pulleys, tuner i.e diablo or sct with tunes. then as you get more power the ladies (or men) demand more appearance......i.e. chin spoiler, bumper inserts tint, wheels, etc. but performance is where it counts

Well, my car's a 67 and had factory drum brakes, so I started with a brake conversion, and it's been all performance. Appearance will be last when I got the $$$

started with brakes and plumbing. then went to drive terrain. a good cheap way to really mod your car is too go to a junkyard and find an engine, take it home and rebuild it little by little, then when its done, junk your old motor and drop that bad b*tch in. much cheaper that way but takes a little more time.

definatly fix the appearence to what ever you liek the most, then do some of the basic upgrades

i got a tuner and did gears first, then my intake, and then i moved out from there

Mine had a bad engine when I bought it (the '71), so performance was first. Most of the Mustangs I buy don't have engines.

Performance came first with a complete tuneup followed by a 2 1/2" cat-back. After that were double cross subframe connectors. Followed by a new H-pipe. The stock driveshaft lost a weight so in went an aluminum piece as did slotted rotors. Shortly after was a 3 row rad and a 4.30 rear slipped in there at some point which is now a 3.73. The last mod was a shift kit. Next up WAS gonna be a 5 lug 4 wheel disc conversion but my baby got grazed today on the way to work by a Galant so appearance is at the top of my to-do list right now.

I sure do miss that shiny black coat with red pinstriping she used to wear. Always looked good in them everyday Ponys to.
