Default 85 front nose onto a 85

Hello, this is my first post here and I apologize if I placed it in the wrong forum. A friend has been in search of a 85/86 convertible for quite sometimeand we don't have much resources here in Hawaii.Either theowners with thedecent ones aren't for sale or the derelects are ready for thescrap yard.He finally tracked down an 84 V6 convertible with a very decent body. Anyway, he wants me to convert the front nose to an 85. My question is, how hard is this conversion?I contacted several aftermarket suppliers and got different answers. One tells me it will bolt right on because the rad supports are the same but another one stated I need to replace the complete front end along with new supports. Any replies are greatly appreciated.

The rad supports are the same. The 83-86 hoods were the same. Fenders from 79-90 are the same. The grille treatment was different but will swap no problem between 83-86. The panel behind the headlights are the same also.

Should be an easy swap.

Im not sure about the side moldings tho. They may be different from 84 to 85-86. If they do differ youll need the 4 small fender moldings, both door moldings and the 4 small 1/4 panel moldings, and a rear bumper.

Only if you need them. But i do think the lines on them were a bit different. Youll have to check them out to be sure.

Sorry to bring this old post back but the owner is eager to do the swap asap. I have been unsuccessful in finding a vender for the 85 nose piece. I sent out for a free catalog from Cal.mustangs but it's been a month and still no catalog. Can someone suggest a name of a vender or one of our sponsors to contact for this part as well as a few exterior parts like mirrors, trim, and repl. badges and emblems. Thanks
