Default 4-5 lug conversion/ rear wheel disc conversion

hey,
I am currently deployed in Iraq as a mechanic and I just bought a 1990 Mustang GT. It still has 4 lugs and rear drums. Ive seen conversions, but they are too expensive. Is there a cheaper way? I think it still has the stock axle. Is it neccessary to change the front spindles to fit a 5 lug rotor? I want to upgrade my new Stang, starting with 5-lugs, rear discs and eventually a big brake kit and a grip package, but would rather not spend a fortune on something that seems so simple and that should be cheaper than $1000.
Any one have anyideas???? Thanks, Adam
