Default First Oil Change

I have a 2007 Mustang with 700 miles. Should I do the first oil change at 1000 miles like used to be recommended or wait to change at 5000 miles that Ford recommends?

Thanks,

CL

Do it at 1000. Ford has started telling everyone that all their new cars only need 5000 mile oil changes but IMO thats just another way to sell more cars. Who ever heard of a 5000 mile oil change? Since the beginning of time it has always been the code of automotive honor to change your oil every 3000 miles. There is nothing special about these new motors that would allow you to break the code. The block in your car is just like any other 4.6 block. Change it every 3000 miles just like every car before it and youll never be disappointed. Also I would use the ford motocraft 5-20 synthetic blend oil for about 2-3 oil changes, then switch over to Mobil 1 5-20. Ford motorcraft oil filters are high quality and all I use.....

I believe Mobil sells 7500 mile oil now. Way back when the oil was not as good as it is today, so I think now a days its quite possible to go longer than 3k miles on an oil change when using full synthetic oil, although i still change it at 3k or in most cases sooner.

You would actually wait 7500 miles inbetween oil changes??? IMO that clean 5000 and clean 7500 stuff is JUNK. Every 3000 miles for me. You can try it if you like. Mobil is lowering its standards lately. I noticed they also came out with a "High Mileage" Mobil 1 full synthetic.......OMG where will it end?
