What changes have you guys seen from getting new gears? Everone talks of lost gas milage, but why and what else do you notice?

Default RE: Gears

acceleration in my car when i went from stock 2.73's to 3.73's was more than i could handle. now that i know how to drive her, i can hang with some pretty fast cars when before i would just be walked.

gas mileage has not changed, and i am pretty sure it has increased because i am a very 'lazy' driver, i keep RPMs low all the time.

after gears, when you get on it for the first time you wonder what the hell took you so long to get this mod. best bang for the buck no questions asked.

The bigger the gear the more you rev. You'll be using your gears more because the higher revs will make you shift sooner. You will only lose little gas mileage. Maybe like 3-4 mpg.

if you keep the rpms low most of the time, gas miliage will improve a little. if your reving to 4000+ every time, miliage will suffer

I'm new to the Gear thing...as lame as that may seem. Are gears something you can do yourself?? I tend to be more of a Do It Yourselfer, I just changed my clutch...saved myself some money, and learned a ton! Thanks

if you havent done gears before, i wouldnt recomend doing it yourself. they have to be set just right or they will get ruined.

as far as gears and the quarter goes, if you go too low and you loose traction when you launch then they wont help but a few suspension mods and gears will make a huge difference in the quarter mile

mmmm... <3 my gears. yeah, you rev up ALOT quicker with them. before i'd be at about 2200rpm around 15mph, now i'm hittin 3k. i gotta get used to them now. gotta learn how to re-drive this car all over again now.
