Default Here's another "Fix my AC" ?

Managed a real booboo today...

Did some damage by parking too far forward onto a parking curb. Talk about absent minded... Somehow, & I really mean I've no idea how, as I backed out of the parking spot,I managed to pull off the lower grille! As this happened, I saw a cloud of [or what looked like] smoke & then the lower grille was on the ground & covered with some oily liquid.Turned off the car &looked underneath. It appears that there's damage to the lower part of the AC condenser! Yuck!! Lower grille is trashed :-(

My 'stang has 41k on it so none of this would be covered under factory warranty even if it wasn't my fault.
Can this be repaired by "Any" Auto AC shop?

Have seen two different kinds of AC condensers online -- #1 isa Multi-flow Type & #2 is a Aluminum, Parallel Flow Type.
How do I identify which I have or for that matter, which I would need?

Lastly, can an '05 Mustang AC condenser be repaired or is it only replaced?

No one has any ideas, suggestions or even comments?

Thats a bad deal. If you damaged the condensor, it will most likely have to replaced and not repaired. Check this link, http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214586, and find the part you need. Then you will know what you have and what you need to order. The link is to a ford dealer, but you should be able to find aftermarket somewhere, unless its a dealer item only. In which case, its to the stealership you go. Sorry, cant offer anything else.

Yup, the AC condenser replacement is the only way to go.
Also have to replace the factory original lower grille & it's billet insert too.

Have an appointment on Friday to get it all fixed.
Geico Insurance is set to do all the repairs under my collision insurance coverage at my local Ford dealership.
Still gonna have to pay the deductible, but I'm hoping it'll get done right the 1st time!

BTW, TwoToneVert, the price for the condenser at the website you suggested is literally 10 times the price at the dealer!!! The prices I found online ranged from $130 to $250. Dealer has it for $190. Your suggested site has it at $1000 plus. WUWT?

That is probably the best way to go if the cost of the repairs are expensive. My car is lowered 1.5 and I have to be really careful when parking it.

You know, now that you mention it...

I've been figuring on lowering my 'Stang too. Prolly gonna do the 1" in front & 1.4" in back.

Seems thathaving a chin spoiler in-place, would prevent this kind of thing.
Would the spoiler block the passage of a curbstone underneath the bumper?

No, just tell you when you ran over it. The chin spoiler mounts to the lower edge of the front bumper and does not offer any solid protection. Just be very careful.
