Default My motors junk.. where to go from here?

I was in the process of rebuilding a 302 that I acquired with my Mustang when I bought it, but once I got down to the block, everything is junk. I need new pistons, all new bearings, a new block, and a new crankshaft.

So, trying to decide where to go from here.

It's a 1995 Mustang

I could get another 302.. I could get this one machined.. or I could go bigger. What else will bolt up? A 351.. what about a 429? A 460? What are my options here!

It kinda depends on what your plans are for the car.. what do you want it for? A regular daily driver.. a weekend fun car?? Do you go to the track much?

For the 302 you could just start with a new shorblock assembly & use your existing heads etc.. that'll get you back on the road

Yeah if I go 302, that's my plan.. I need a new shortblock, everything else i have is desireable. It's going to be my summer ride.. daily driver during the summer, but i'll still have my truck if something goes bad, and i'm not worried about gas milage or anything.

I will tell you this.. if I end up going the 302 road, i'm putting no less then a 250 shot on it. I guess i'm mainly wondering what other blocks will bolt up to my AOD trans and stuff into my engine bay (besides hood clearance).. 351? 429?

my buddy and i built a 351 windsor bored and stroked to a 427. he put about 200 miles on it, and took it out cuz he wanted to sell the car, and wasn't letting the motor go with it. he's selling the motor with your choice of intake (carb or fuel injected) for $4100 i think. he put over $6,000 into it. pm me if you're interested

(p.s.- his car is a 95gt as well. it's got the swap headers on it aslo for your year.)

Any of the Windsor small blocks will work, but the 351 based engines will need different accessories to mount up. You can stroke/bore a 302 to 347 and get decent power.
