So at the ripe age of 34 I just picked up my first Mustang GT. 1 owner 1989 with 70,000 miles. What are some mods that I can do that with be the best bang for the buck without breaking the bank?.The car is a 5 speed.Any help would be appreciated.

Gears. I would keep the stock ones (2.73 or 3.08) for 100% DD, or go 3.27 or 3.55 for DD favored/Preformance, then 3.73 for DD/preformance favored. 3.90 or 4.10 or more for serious strip use.
What is your intended use? For a daily driver with a fewbasic boltons:I would get a H-pipe with some mufflers of choice. Then I would get a CAI. The exhaust/intake opinon in not neseccarliary in bang for the $ order.
Before any speed mods cover all the filters(fuel/air), ignition components, oil/fluids, tire pressure, etc.

mmm... there's lots of freebies
like taking off the air intake silence + k&n filter and bumping timing. i can't think of any others right now. i'm kinda tired. get a short shifter. mgw is the way to go!
