Electrical problems
I purchased an instrument cluster from a member on here with white faced gauges. The cluster is a stock cluster other than the gauge covers as far as I know. Immediately after I installed the cluster, my car acted as if the alternator was defective. After having the alternator tested and replaced with another, I took the cluster out and replaced with my old one. Immediately, the alternator started working again. I know it sounds bizarre, but something in that instrument cluster was shutting down the charging system.
Now, I have reinstalled my old cluster, but now my turn signals, hazard lights, and brake lights have quit. I have checked all fuses, but they are all good. Even all the ones under the hood are intact. Could it be the flasher? Are the brake lights wired through the flasher?
Thanks

RE: Electrical problems
the brakes lights are not wired through the flasher. sound to me like you knocked some connections loose while you were changing out the dash clusters. go back and make sure everything is properly connected to where they are supposed to be plugged in. did you check for power at the fuses?? there might be a burned out fusible link which is not letting power get the the light fuses. most of these links are attached at the hot side of the starter solenoid under the hood.
