well, they from a ticking to a violent rattle. I think there is a broken valve(s). Either way, it doesnt sound right and the motor starts, then cuts out.

Man that sucks. I could have put money on the alternator. I have no idea where that squealing could be from. Usually a rod bearing would be a knock or rap that increases with the rpm's. Could be a bad timing chain or cam gear. If there was that much internal screeching, there would be tell-tale signs in the oil(dipstick). Also that low voltage reading is puzzling.
Does it sound like this?

Or this?

I guess it will need to be disassembled to see what went on.

Sorry man, I hoped it was just the alternator. Let us know what the verdict is.

That sucks. Then it is your rod bearings. Time for a rebuild.

it was rebuilt 10,000 miles ago. How long is a rebuild usually good for?

Wow, if that's the case they messed it up badly. Was it a garage that did this rebuild? Good rebuilds can last 100,000 miles easy. I would take it back and tell them it redo it.

I took my car to a performance shop and they found out that my oil pump was "sheared off" . So they are pulling the motor, cause I dont have the facility to do it myself in, and replace it as well as check the main bearings for damage, or anything else that may have been affected.
