Hey Man I feel for you. I have always had beaters but I have spent more money on my '91 in the last 6 months then EVERY car I have ever had combined. And there is still SH*T going wrong with it. Some cars are just cursed. As for the problem it is Probably one of the clutch cables. I just did both on my car this weekend (didn't fix my problem but that is another story) One goes from the pedal to the clutch fork the other is short and goes from the fork into the bellhousing. Check the short one first is is the least expensive and easiest to replace.

I dunno why you insist on painting that crap wagon man, you won't get any more money for it. Just drop it off at a junkyard or try getting a couple hundred bones for it.

It may not be the clutch cable, although that would be the first thing I would check. It could be that the throw out bearing (release bearing), not sure what ford calls it. Are you able to pull the clutch pedal up by hand or does the pedal seem to be jammed at the floor? Does it take force to pull the pedal up?

I would start with the cable that runs into the bellhousing, it is really simple and cheap. The one under the dash is not difficult just awkward because there really isn't much room under there. IF you are lucky the cable will be broken and you can tell which one needs to be replaced but more often then not they are stretched so they look fine but they need replacement. The secret to changing either one is to disengage the selfadjuster. This will take the tension off the cable enough to remove it from either end. Let me know if you get stuck or need some help, like I said I just did both yesterday.

Yea you wouldn't think they would stretch that far but on my sisters '89 the small cable stretched about 1/4 inch and that was enough to have her pedal resting on the ground. I mean it could be a lot of other things but this isn't the first time I needed to replace those cables on a fox stang.

yeah i would fix it just enought so it runs and then get rid of it, cut your losses with the 4 banger, i had a 86 4 banger a long time agao and it was the biggest pile of crap ever, get rid of the 4 and move into the 8. If you can i would look for smething a little newer than 86 if you can, try and find a early 90's, sorry for your luck man hope thing work out better in the future, just dont give up you will find a good one if you look around for it,

ok well the clutch...it just floats around like there isn't anything attachted to it...you can push it down and it comes back up but i think its the cable...this may have been from when i was stuck on the edge of an emanckment because i went off the road...but it still doens't matter...i'm selling it...i don't know if i am going to get the 86(a newer one if i can find it) or this 93 mazda mx-6...its a 5 speed 6 cylinder...now the mustang is making me really want it but its too old really...its got a nice engine and everything...but i would want the styler that i have...maybe i can try to get this one next to my g/f house..its a convert but hey it would be nice to have one of those...
