Hi,

I am 16 years old now, and I still don't have my license, or a job... Looking for both though... I was just wondering, which mustang should I get, from this year range; 1999-2004? and which Model, like 4.6? V6? Cobra? SVT? WHICH ONE? Also, if possible, Imma try to find one for less than $10,000. Yes, I am thinkin of tuning it later on in life, when I pay for the car, then gonna do some interior, exterior, and engine, etc. All is gonna help me performance, and safety wise (to make insurance less expensive ;-)) Hope some of you pro's can help me out :-D

Hit ya' up lata!

SVT makes the cobra for future reference. I would say get a v6 manual. Insurance is defintley going to be alot for a 16 year old, and its just safer to start with a v6 vs v8. I drove a 4 banger 91 legacy for about 2 years before I got my GT. But I'm a very safe driver, no tickets, no accidents, i'm more of an exception than the rule when it comes to young drivers lol. You'll have fun with a V6 manual, it'll be hella fun for 16 thats for sure. And you won't get raped with insurance.

where in the hell do you live? 04's for 8K brand new? i dont buy it, no way,
i need some proof before i believe that..

the dealer around here has a 04 convertable with the v6 for 1000 dollars less than the 05 GT was a couple weeks ago... however, this could explain why its still on the lot...
Actually mach, I would believe it. Last year around this time when I was looking for my GT, they were sellin brand spankin new auto V6s for 11,999 in Texas. I went down there for vacation, and just picked up a newspaper and saw that every dealership was goin crazy with deals on cars. The Ford deals had 25% off on all Stangs (minus cobra) lol. So now with the 2005 gts out, I would believe that you can get a v6 stang for 8-9 grand. My two cents.

When I was 16 my dad bought me a 93LX 5.0 and I remember the price being around $1900 every six months for INsurance(USAA). I have a perfect driving record no wrecks nor speeding tickets and I pay $180 a month w/ USAA right now for a 03 GT.

Why not get a older slower car until you learn how to drive and establish some history with the insurance companies before you worry about getting a Stang, especially one with a V-8 engine. this way you will save lots of money on car insurance which I'm sure your folks will appreciate too.
Exactly.

At 16, without a job and no license, you need to start with an older and cheaper car. Not everyone can have a great first car, I know I sure didn't... and neither did a lot of other people here. I work my *** off 40 hours a week to keep my stang, while in college, and it's STILL hard. And I only have 2000 v6. My car payments plus insurance really add up, especially being 19.

I think if you want a stang, you need to look at a 94-98 v6 or maybe a 5.0.

Without a good paying job, or extra nice mommy and daddy, you probably won't be able to afford a newer one.

Just being honest here. [&:]
