Default operating temperature?

I just bought a 1997 mustang with a v6. The temperature gage stabilizes past the halfway point just a hair over the 2/3 point. Is this normal? Thanks..

anyhting b/w the C and H is normal. if it goes past the hot martk, turn off the car immediatley though. you dont want any overheating. maybe you need to check radiator fluid or other fluids to see if you are lubed enough.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll flush the cooling system as previous owner may not have done this in awhile.

when buying a used car it is always good to drain and change all oils and lubes b/c like you said, you dont know how the previous owner treated the car.

My temp gauge never even gets to the halfway mark. Maybe it's broke? It does move.. but never more than about 1/4 the way on the meter...

you probably just have an hotter thermostat, bad or low coolent if it remains the same after flushing the cooling system and it bothers you then go ahead and replace the thermostat with a colder one

My Stangs temp range is between 180 and 200 Fahrenheit. That is why I got mechanical gauges, there help me.
