could this be a shelby mustang???
i just bought what appears to be a 65 or 66 mustang, it is a coupe. the thing is it has taillamps like the old cougers had, long and narrow.. and also has air scoopes on the front of the quarter panels that funnel air to the rear brakes. it also has a rear deck spoiler. i dont know very much about the mustangs and need some help with this please. i do have a few pictures but havent gotten the vin# as of yet . if anyone has any ideas please let me know. the car is in rough shape but can be restored , just need to know if it is worth rebuilding. thanks

It's very hard to say without some pics and VIN numbers. For all you know, somone could have been trying to make a shelby replica.
If you're lucky, both the engine codes and VIN codes will match.
Try and post some pics and numbers and we'll try and help you out the best we can.

It sounds like the california special. There pretty rare but and go for around 35-40k restored if the drivetrain is numbers matching. Would you take some pictures, I'd be able to tell you for sure if it is a california special.

RE: could this be a shelby mustang???
Its definatly a california special or high country special. Getting the vin number would really help identify the year. That isn't the original paint since they didn't come in white. 66 and 67 less than a 800 were built combined in those years and it would definatly be worth restoring. They built over 4000 in 68 and was the last year that package was produced. If its a 68 I wouldn't pay more that $2000 for it in that condition, its rare but not that great of an investment car. If its a 66 or 67 I would pay a little more because you could get a little more money for it once its fully restored.
