dont be afraid to try it your self...use same shims on the side carrier some times there on the money just use your stock pinion shim it will be right on in most cases,,just get your pinion pre load right ...i got a feel for it ...good luck man !

^^^^ Exactly. Thats what most people screw up. And thats also what most "Show me hows" online and in manuals, they start from scratch and go with all new parts. Use the same pinion depth shim, unless youre differential has a +/- on it with a number. Then just add or subtract from that number. Then the carrier backlash shims are SOMETIMES the same, sometimes it changes. Preload just use a inch-lb turque wrench. works everytime. Or if youre "old" you have a feel for it. Then make sure backlash is correct ( dial indicator), then put something on the ring gear that will leave a mark and make sure the teeth line up. Not that diffucult. I think the big problem is what the manuals tell you how to do it. You take one look and turn the other way.
