so your saying that you couldn't fix your clutch problem, so your remedy was to replace the tranny and weld a shifter onto the new tranny's shifter????

it would have been a whole lot less involved if you would have just fixed the clutch.... it would have been cheaper even if you would have taken it to a shop

no i couldn't have used the same shifter. the auto shifter i had was broken anyways. and the 5spd shifter bolts to the trans. the auto shifter bolts to the body, and has a cable that links it to the trans.

No i couldn't fix the clutch problem. There is a crack in the firewall, where the firewall adjuster was. Everytime the clutch was pressed in, it would flex and pry on the firewall. I had the firewall welded and reinforced. BUT, the clutch wouldn't engage properly. The clutch cable would bind and rub against the firewall and the inside of the adjuster. Which caused the clutch to be 100x harder to push, which put more stress on the firewall. After trying to fix the firewall and clutch problem, for about 2 months. I had taken it to multiple body shops, and nobody wanted to work on it. The firewall was damaged too far, and if everything isn't lined up properly, the problem will keep coming back. Various different attempts, nothing worked. So, the ultimate and permanent fix, was to put an Automatic transmission in the car, which cost me absolutely nothing, and was done in a weekend. My brother recently totaled his 5.0 AOD, and bought a 5.0 5spd, and he gave me his transmission and various AOD parts. And, with a 5spd shifter, and a AOD shifter that didn't work, i cut both, and created 1 that worked. Problem solved, and it confuses the hell out of people and i love it. :-D
