RE: car whines with rpms
No no no!!! the whining doesn't get louder as you turn up the radio, it get's louder the harder you accelerate! lol. Geesh, pay attention ya'll :P. It has happened, so don't make me sound like an idiot :P. I don't have an after-market stereo, so it could still be that. If you check the fan belts and they're fine take it to Best Buy.

RE: car whines with rpms
If the problem is from the radio, the problem is an electrical intereference. As the RPMs increase, it increases the ground. A ground isolator kit (available at WALMART or radioshack) will eliminate the squeal. It is some sort of interferance between the alternator and radio. Otherwise, other problems could be the belt. New Dayco belts will have the whine, as well as several other brands, until the seat into the v's. You can also check the pulleys to make sure they arent going out. If the problem only occurs when you are moving, I would look more towards the transmission or rearend. I've also heard of throwout bearings on a manual transmission giving off a heck of squeal.
