Default exhaust system question

Does it make any difference using long or short headers if everything else gets replaced at the same time? I realize that shorty headers need longer h or x pipes, but do long headers perform any better or worse than shortys?

i've been told that long tube headers are the better way to go for horsepower, i have long tube's on mine and was thinking of changing them out until i was told that would be a mistake cause i'd loose power.

Full lengthheaders are generally better overall.

Shorty's do not require a special h-pipe, full length headers do.

so it's not just long headers, short midpipes, and short headers, long midpipes?

In some situations there may also be clearance issues. Depending on the brand of long tube, wether your stang is auto or man. trans, and possibly the steering shaft rag joint. They are also more difficult to install. But these are issues are often overlooked because there is a substantial power advantage over shorties.

shortys = not worth the money/hassle to install, long tubes or bust
